James "Jim" Trask

August 21, 1948 — March 11, 2025

James R. Trask (Jim/Jimmy), 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend went home to his Savior on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at his home surrounded by his precious wife, children and grandchildren.

Jim was born in Americus, Georgia on August 21, 1948, and spent his childhood living across the globe as the son of an Airforce Colonel. He was the son of the late John A. Trask and Sarah H. Trask. He is preceded in death by his brother, John A. Trask Jr. He served our country honorably for four years in the United States Navy. After leaving the military, Jim married the love of his life, Patricia, on December 23, 1971. He later graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University and went to work for Southern Frozen Foods where he was eventually promoted to Vice President of Sales. Lifelong friends were made during his tenure there.

He was a member of Mt. Zion St. Luke Lutheran Church where he served for many years on the Church Council. He also served on the Montezuma City Council and as Mayor Pro-Tem for 8 years.

Jim’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family whom he adored and treasured beyond words. He loved college football, fishing off his dock at the lake, and watching his grandchildren play sports. Jim/Daddy/Papa will be unbelievably missed but lives on in the hearts of his loved ones until they meet again.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Tricia; his daughter Whitney and husband John Crisp; his daughter Tracy and husband David Monk; his grandchildren Mary Catherine, Maddie, John Henry and Charlie Crisp of Americus and Ridley and Hunter Monk of Tifton, his sister Cathy Garrett of Kathleen; nephews Travis Trask, Bill Williams, Dan Williams and niece Emily Trask; and special caregivers Angela Clark and Ethel Finch.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 17, 2025, at 12 noon in the Mt. Zion St. Luke Lutheran Church.  The burial will be in Andersonville National Cemetery with Military Honors at 2 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the interment at the Trask home in Montezuma. All family and friends are welcome. Memorials may be made in loving memory of Jim to: Mt. Zion St. Luke Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 187, Oglethorpe, GA 31068.
