Mr. James “Walt” Jackson, age 79, of Montezuma, GA, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery in Montezuma, GA. He will be buried next to his parents. James Walter “Walt” Jackson, 79, of Montezuma, passed away Saturday April 29 with family by his side. He was born in Winder, GA and moved to Macon with his parents and siblings in 1950. He attended Lanier High School and Gordon Military School. Mr. Jackson enlisted in the Army in 1963 and served in Korea; while enlisted he specialized as a heavy vehicle driver. Upon his return home he walked in his dad’s footsteps in the trucking business beginning with being a diesel mechanic, driver and finally owning his own trucking business. His travels took him all over the country. Mr. Jackson is preceded in death by his parents, Mell and Clarice Jackson. He is survived by his daughters Andrea Jackson Williams (Chris) and Lezlie Jackson Lawson; sisters, Julia Jackson House (Bob), Sharon Jackson McLendon (Steve), and Deborah Jackson Gibbs (Dan); grandchildren, Lindsey Hodnett (Devin), Taylor Foti (Dayne), Rafe Lawson, Garrett Williams and Rylee Lawson and several nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thank you to Camee Hobbs for her love and dedication as a friend and caregiver. Walt was loved deeply by his family and friends. His love for his family was shown by his generosity.
