MONTEZUMA, GA - Mr. James L. "Larry" Dixon, age 75, of Montezuma, Georgia passed away Wednesday morning, May 30, 2018 at his residence.
Visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Byromville Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Gauthier officiating.
Mr. Dixon will be laid to rest in Swearingen Cemetery with military honors in Byromville, Georgia.
Larry was born on October 11, 1942 in Macon Georgia to the late James Ralph Dixon and Mary Agnes Howell Dixon.He was raised in Montezuma where he lived until he joined the Air Force in 1959.He returned to Montezuma when he was stationed at Robins AFB in 1980. Larry served in the Air Force from 1959 until 1982 when he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant.He served at bases stateside in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, California, South Carolina, North Dakota, Alaska, Maine, Georgia and overseas in Germany and Thailand.He operated and owned the Dairy Queen from 1983 until 1996. Larry was a member of Cedar Valley Baptist Church, USO and VFW.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Fran Fountain Dixon of Montezuma, GA; children, James Eric Dixon (Pam) of Warner Robins, Georgiaand JoAnna Robinson of Dothan, Alabama; one brother, David Dixon (Cheryl) of Montezuma, Georgia.Also surviving are three grandchildren: James Corey Dixon of Valdosta, Georgia, Brandon Charles Dixon and Zackary Taylor Dixon both of Warner Robins, Georgia.
