Hobert E. Burton, age 72, of Oglethorpe, GA passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 26, 2008 at Heartland Hospice House in Macon, GA.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Andersonville National Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Myke Harbuck will officiate.
He was born on January 23, 1936 in Bracken County, KY to the late Lloyd Clayton Burton and Bertha Caine Burton. He was self-employed in the electronic business and of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Air Force Sergeant and Army Veteran serving three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Salter.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Burton of Oglethorpe, GA; three daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara Burton of Massachusetts, Carla and Chuck Tollison of Ivey, GA and Cheryl West of Warner Robins, GA; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Katrina Burton of Evans, GA, John Burton of Augusta, GA; Michael and Cindy West of Byron, GA; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Rachel and Paul Tieman of Amelia, OH and Jean Mudd of Victoria, TX; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Doris Burton of Mayslicks, KY; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
