H.L. Layfield, Jr.

Mr. H.L. Layfield, Jr., age 65, of Oglethorpe, Georgia passed away Friday, April 29, 2022 at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins, Georgia.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, May 2, 2022 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Watson-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Cromer and Rev. Craig Allen officiating the service.

Mr. Layfield was born November 18, 1956 in Macon County, GA to the late H.L. Layfield, Sr. and Sally Mae Miller Layfield. He was employed with T&C Trucking for many years as a log truck driver. He loved to fish, camp and spend time with his family. He was loved by all. He was of the Pentecostal faith and loved Blue Grass Gospel Music.  His favorite saying when someone said “I love you” was, “That’s what they all say!”

Mr. Layfield is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Wanda Layfield; His mother-in-love, Joann Brown and best friend Thomas Brown. 4 children, Scotty (Shauna) Layfield, Heather (Brian) Lawhorn, Bradley (Britney) Brown and Elijah (Michelle) Layfield; 4 siblings, Pam (Morgan) Thaxton, Randy (Mitzi)Layfield, Danny Layfield and Dianna (Danny) Windham; 11 grandchildren, Courtney (Chance) Easom, Cody (Lexie) Layfield, Dylan (Ambry) Layfield, Joanna (Tay) Vinson, Hayden Drew, Calllie Lawhorn, Hoke Lawhorn, Eli Layfield, Jr., Elana Layfield, Camille Layfield and Luke Derrington; 7 great grandchildren, Bentley Easom, Kloe Easom, Brax Easom, Oaklyn Layfield, Brantley Layfield, Carter Layfield, Hazley Swinford and many, nieces, nephews and cousins.
