Helen was born in Montezuma, GA to the late Mack McPherson and Carrie Lee Brannen McPherson. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Clinton Peaster; son, Clinton Cheyenne Peaster; grandson, Jeremy Scott Boyte and brother, Carl “Hot Shot” McPherson. Helen was a faithful member of Cedar Valley Baptist, where she worked with children’s church on Sundays.
In 2000, she retired from the Macon County School System after being a school bus driver for 23 years. In late 2000, Helen and Lonnie started their own business and were owner/operators of a trucking company hauling expedite across the US and Canada. They drove and traveled the country for the next 10 years, expanding the business to 3 trucks before they retired completely and sold the company.
Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling with her partners in crime, playing cards with her grandkids, teaching children’s church on Sundays, listening to music, going to Uncle Billy’s on Christmas Eve, and when she was in the mood…cooking! She was an excellent cook and perfected Nanny Peaster’s dressing recipe.
She loved her kids and grandkids with all her heart. She enjoyed spending time with them and doing anything she could do to bring a smile to their faces. She loved decorating her Christmas trees, making Easter baskets for her grandkids as well.
Helen is survived by her loving daughters, Angie Peaster Mathews (Tom) of Montezuma, GA, Connie Brannen (Keith) of St. George Island, FL, Lisa Boyte (Scott) of Salem, AL and Angie Davis (Ben) of Smith Station, AL; Helen’s pride and joy were her 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; grandchildren are Shannon Boyte, Cami Brannen Mullen, Erica Kitchens, Kelsey Brannen, Kyle Lott, Austin Hobbs, Sydney Cheyenne Granados, Keller Peaster, Emily Claire Brannen and Tate Peaster; great grandchildren are Eli Boyte, June Elise Boyte and Macoy Mullen; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
