MACON, GA - Harold Earl Crawford, age 78, of Macon, Ga, formerly of Montezuma, Ga passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at his home under the care of Serenity Gate Hospice.
A graveside service has been scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2013 at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tim Ferguson officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the graveside at 9:45 a.m.
Mr. Crawford was born June 10, 1934 in Anniston, Alabama to the late Clarence Crawford and Virginia Jefferson Crawford. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and worked as a switchman for GTE Telephone for 34 years.Mr. Crawford was instrumental in reviving the Little League in Macon County and was known as "Coach Crawford" to many. He was also a dedicated University of Alabama fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Patton Crawford.
Mr. Crawford's survivors include his children, Michael Crawford of Macon, Ga, Brett (Tracy) Crawford of Ellaville, Ga, Ginger Scarboro (Alex) Dunn of Gray, Ga, Bryan (Tonya) Crawford of Marshallville, Ga, and Tim Scarboro of Gray, Ga. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Keith Crawford, Mathew Crawford, Dana Crawford, Hannah Crawford, Emily Scarboro, Erica Scarboro, Ethan Scarboro, Jaime Lopez, and Bryant Crawford; and three step-grandchildren, C.J. Summers, Drew Dunn, and Rece Dunn.
