Grover C. Hobbs III, age 64, of Oglethorpe, GA passed away suddenly, Friday night, June 5, 2009 at Flint River Hospital in Montezuma, GA.
Visitation was from 6 to 9 PM Sunday, June 7 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Funeral services were held at 11 AM, Monday, June 8 at Whitewater Baptist Church in Oglethorpe with Rev. Ray Smith and Rev. Gene Simmons officiating. Interment followed in Felton Cemetery in Montezuma.
He was born on January 7, 1945 in Macon County, GA to the late Grover C. Hobbs, Jr. and Inez Grant Hobbs who still survives.He owned and operated Grover's Grits in Oglethorpe, GA.
Survivors include his wife, Tonya Hobbs of Oglethorpe, GA; his mother, Inez Grant Hobbs of Oglethorpe, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Jim Brett of Starkville, MS; two sons and daughter-in-law, Cleveland and Leslie Hobbs of Montezuma, GA and Dennis Hobbs of Oglethorpe, GA; four grandchildren, Jonathan Hobbs, Adrianne Hobbs,Shelton Hobbs and Cade Powell; eleven brothers and sisters, Shirley Jones of Greenville, SC, Larry and Ann Hobbs of Snellville, GA, Bobby and Alice Hobbs of Andersonville, GA, Linda and Gene Simmons of Garden Valley, GA, Patricia and Brown Hortman of Oglethorpe, GA, Marjorie and Clyde English of Montrose, GA, Louie and Frances Hobbs of Reynolds, GA, Terry and Debbie Hobbs of Cobb, GA, Susan and Jim Tungate of Oglethorpe, GA, Joyce and Ray Smith of Butler, GA, Cheryl and Larry Dorsey of Oglethorpe, GA; a special aunt also survives, Virginia Taylor of Oglethorpe, GA. He is also survived by 28 nieces and nephews; 33 great nieces and nephews, one great great nephew and a host of cousins.
