Cheryl Lockerman Dixon, 71, of Montezuma, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Cedar Valley Baptist Church. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Damon Fountain, Pastor Keith Alderman and Pastor Butch Canady will be officiating.
Mrs. Dixon was born January 9, 1951 in Montezuma to the late Jason Howard Lockerman and Evelyn Edwards Lockerman.
Lovingly referred to as “Granny,” she will be remembered as a devoted grandmother. Her granddaughters were the joy in her life. Over the years she spent many hours helping with homework and playing with baby dolls.
She was a faithful member of Cedar Valley Baptist Church, where she served in various capacities including Church Clerk and Missions Chair. In addition, she was a member of the Pastor Search Committee and the Joy Circle, directed the Children’s and Youth choirs for many years, and led the programs for graduation, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day. Along with her sister Martha, they taught the preschool children for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Imogene “Jean” Lockerman Bowen and Martha Lockerman McKinney; and a granddaughter, Evelyn Elizabeth Dixon.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, David Dixon of Montezuma; son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Kacey Dixon of Garden Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Jacob Duckworth of Montezuma; brother, Ed Lockerman of Mineral Bluff; and four granddaughters: Keely Dixon of Brookhaven, Laura Beth Dixon of Garden Valley, Olivia Duckworth of Peachtree City, and Josie Duckworth of Warner Robins. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, GA has been entrusted with funeral arrangements for Mrs. Cheryl Lockerman Dixon.
