George W. Massey, Jr.

Mr. George W. Massey Jr., age 76, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023, at Crisp Regional Hospital, Cordele, GA. Mr. Massey was born February 28, 1946, to George W. Massey Sr., and Hilda Spradley Massey in Montezuma, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Youngblood Massey, and his brother, Thomas Massey.

Mr. Massey was retired from Georgia Power and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He also worked part-time at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma. He was a member of Byromville Baptist Church and Faithful Believers in Christ Sunday School Class.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM, Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Byromville Baptist Church, 713 Patterson St., Byromville, GA. Visitation will be held at the church from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Pastor Reed Benson will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in Swearingen Cemetery in Byromville, GA.

Mr. Massey, is survived by two daughters, Paula Massey Smith and her husband, Mark, of Pinehurst, GA, Pam Massey Evans, and husband Keith, of Byromville, GA; two brothers, Johnny Massey and wife Cindy of Enigma, GA, and Larry Massey of Montezuma, GA; three grandchildren, Quint Smith, Massey Evans and wife Olivia, and Mandy Smith; a sister-in-law, Era Mae Youngblood, Byromville, GA; many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Byromville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 126, Byromville, GA 31007.
