George Cleveland Barker, age 65, of Montezuma, GA passed away, Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Flint River Hospital in Montezuma, GA.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 8 in the Chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Mr. Barker was born on December 30, 1944 in Vienna, GA to the late McArthur Barker and Lillie Lamberth Barker.
Mr. Barker worked in the maintenance department of Southern Frozen Foods and as a craftsman for Macon State Prison. He also was a self employed contractor for home, office, and store renovations. He was aptly described by many as being a "Jack of all trades."
Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy Bailey Barker of Montezuma, GA; daughter who he affectionately called his "little monkey", Mara Amy Barker-Hughes (Paul) of Lake Allatoona, GA; three sisters, Thelma Williams of Oglethorpe, GA, Juanita Hall of Jacksonville, FL, Joyce Bickley of Marietta, GA; brother, Roy (Linda) Barker of Montezuma, GA; two sisters-in-law, Edna Barker of Montezuma and Lil Barker of Spartanburg, SC; several nieces and nephews also survive.
He is predeceased in death by a sister, Elizabeth Barker and two brothers, Howard and Melvin Barker.
