Montezuma, GA - Franklin Lamar Lamberth, Sr., 63, of Montezuma was called home to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 17, 2011, while at Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry, GA.

A Going Home Service for Lamar will held Monday, December 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home, Montezuma, GA with Chaplain Glenn Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, GA with full military honors.

Lamar was born in Montezuma, GA, son of Gertrude Wallis and the late Charlie F. Lamberth. His step-father was the late Roy Wallis. He had worked as an x-ray and nuclear medicine technologist for around 30 years at the Americus Hospital, Montezuma Hospital, and Macon State Prison. He had a great compassion for people. In fact, he was requested to personally take care of President Jimmy Carter's mother when she would come to the Americus Hospital. Lamar received his training as a radiologist at the University of Miami's Jackson Health System in Miami, FL and also worked at Cedars of Lebanon in Miami, FL.While in military service he served his country with the U.S. Army 93rd Evac in Long Bienh, Viet Nam. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Masonic Lodge and Macon County Historical Society.

Mr. Lamberth leaves to cherish:his mother, Gertrude Wallis, Montezuma, GA, a daughter, Mindy (Stephen) Morris, Ellaville, GA, two sons, Franklin "Frankie" (Geneva) Lamberth, Jr., Ellaville, GA, and James Edwin Lamberth, TN, a brother, Roy Travis Wallis, Montezuma, and a sister, Sandra Wallis Wade, Phenix City, AL. He also has five grandchildren: Kylie, Macie, Dannica, Haley, Mason. His aunts and uncles are: Grace (Don) Rosenberg, Miami, FL, Geraldine (Joe) LaBonte, Dothan, AL, Margaret Gant, Cobb, GA. His nieces and nephews are:Delaina Plunkett, Phenix City, AL, Zachary (Barbee) Alderson, Columbus, GA, Jared (Jodi) Alderson, Columbus, GA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088 or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Joyce Liggin, 120 South Dooly Street, Montezuma, GA 31063.

Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma is in charge of funeral arrangements.
