Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus, Georgia with Pastor Matthew Shallenberger and Dr. Richard K. Chase officiating. The family will receive friends at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
Mrs. Tanner was born on July 23, 1931 in Plains, Georgia to the late John Heath and Evelyn Bell Heath.She worked as a medical secretary for Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, Georgia for many years and was a faithful member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Survivors include her three sons; Mark Tanner of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Dennis Tanner of Cordele, Georgia and Eric (Laura) Tanner of Chattanooga, TN; seven grandchildren; Amelie Evelyn Tanner, James Dustin Tanner (Deborah Mann), Zachary Mark Tanner, Leah June Tanner, Jonathon Ryan Tanner, Alexandra Joye Tanner and Nathan DeWild.She was preceded in death by her husband James R. "Jimmy" Tanner; her son, Tommy Tanner, and one brother, John Heath.
