VIENNA, GA - Mr. Eugene "Possum" Thompson of Cordele, GA, formerly of Vienna, GA entered into rest on Thursday April 23, 2020 at the age of 83 at the Crisp Regional Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A visitation with social distancing and limited to 10 people in the funeral home at a time will be from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, GA.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Reynolds, Georgia. Bro. Earl Collier and Bro. Tony Workman will officiate the service.
He was born August 16, 1936 in Taylor County to the late Odessa Thompson and Herschel Thompson.
Eugene retired from Muloca in Oglethorpe, GA as a bulldozier operator with over 30 years of service.He was a member of Bakersfield Baptist Church and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Inez Collier Brown Thompson of Cordele, GA; six grandchildren, Jenna Brown of Ideal, GA, Ryan Thompson (Amy) of Byromville, GA, Rocky Thompson (Becky) of Oglethorpe, GA, John Brown (Katie) of Reynolds, GA, Andy Brown (Sara) of Culloden, GA and Shannon Greer (Lee) of Gunterville, Alabama;fourteen great grandchildren, Patricia (Brandon), Lilly, Maggie, Rose, Raymond, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Austin, Alyssa, Cahla, Caleigh, Austin, Sabrina & Samantha; two great great grandchildren, Carson & Dylan; 2 daughters-in-law, Tammy Brown of Ideal, GA and Nadine Thompson of Oglethorpe, GA, brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Earline Collier of Vienna, GA;sister-in-law, Joyce Betts of Oglethorpe, GA and sister-in-law Diane Sutton of Tifton, GA.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Earl Thompson, Mark Brown and a brother, Leon Thompson.
