Dorothy Felker Smith, age 91, of Ideal passed away Wednesday morning, February 15, 2012 at The Oaks Nursing and Personal Care Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Friday, February 17, 2012 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Ideal United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Ideal City Cemetery.
Ms. Smith was born February 5, 1921 to the late Jimmy and Pauline Tarrer Felker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Vallie Smith. Ms. Smith was self-employed as a hairdresser and an avid gardener. She was a long-time member of Ideal United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful piano player, loved music, her flowers, and her family & friends.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Brenda Smith of Macon, Georgia and Dan and Joyce Smith of Americus, Georgia; a sister, Alice Joiner of Marshallville, Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Ms. Smith is also survived by four grandchildren and their spouses; Julie & Norris Wallace IV of Macon, Georgia; Sherri & Jeff Joyner of Suwanee, Georgia; Teresa & Ken Neff of Leesburg, Georgia; and Suzanne & Bob Burek of Decatur, Georgia. She also leaves six great-grandchildren, Ava Marie Wallace; Amber Lynn Gilkey; Hollyann Savannah Neff; Nicholas Daniel Neff; Vivian Ruth Burek; and Theodore Joseph Burek.
