OGLETHORPE, GA - Mrs. Dorothy Jean Barfield, 67, of Bonaire, formerly of Oglethorpe, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021, at Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry, Georgia.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at 1:00 p.m.at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Watson Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Ferguson and Bro. Troy Fripp will officiate the service.
Mrs. Dorothy was born in Blakely, Georgia on October 17, 1953, to the late Emory Palmer and Dorothy Bowman Palmer.She was of Baptist faith and loved reading her Bible and spending time in God's word. She loved gardening and cooking and spending time with her loved ones.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her three sons: Ronnie Little, Jr. (Laura) of Ellaville, GA, James Watson of Bonaire, GA, and Christopher Watson (Nikki) of Ellaville, GA; two step-children: Rachel Shutters (Allen) of Ellaville, GA, and Joe Barfield of Oglethorpe, GA; an uncle, Carl Bowman of Oglethorpe, GA.; twelve grandchildren: Cole Little, Elizabeth Little, Morgan Little, Jake Little, Josh Worth, Whitney Worth, Jaylin Watson, Jordan Watson, Tristan Watson, Meadow Adams, Weston Watson, and River Watson; three step-grandchildren; Myles Shutters, Nathan Barfield, Meganne Barfield. Also, surviving are two great-grandchildren along with many other family members.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert "Lucky" Barfield, and two brothers: Vick Palmer and Jesse Palmer.
