Donna Garren, age 64, of Montezuma, Georgia, formerly of Cordele, passed away at her home Sunday, September 23, 2012. The family will receive friends at visitation on Monday, September 24, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma. Graveside funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery in Montezuma with Rev. Roy Taylor officiating.
Ms. Garren was born June 4, 1948 to the late James Wiley McAfee and Bertice Lucille Akins McAfee Thompson. She was a resident of Montezuma for 30 years and was retired assistant manager in the retail business. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Garren; daughter, Wendy Clark; and sister, Judy McAfee Arnett.
She is survived by her partner, Bennie Benford of Oglethorpe, GA; step-parents, Leon and Thelma Thompson of Oglethorpe, GA; two daughters, Tammy (Mike) Mixon of Pearl, MS and Stephanie Bridges (Charlie Fogarty) of Montezuma, GA; one brother, Rickey W. (Retha) McAfee, Sr. of Fayetteville, NC and one brother-in-law, Tommy Arnett of Cordele, GA. In addition, she leaves behind six grandchildren, Roxie Entrekin, Amanda Lundy Forsberg, Felicia Mixon, Rachel Mixon, Cynthia Bridges, and Jordan Bridges. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. Pallbearers include Rusty Arnett, Logan Arnett, Michael Arnett, David Smith, Bill Dominy, James Collins, and Matt Pichard; and honorary pallbearer Tommy Arnett.
