Mrs. Dawn Martin “Dawnde” Peavy of Montezuma, Georgia, passed away Saturday evening, May 21, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. Mrs. Peavy was 69.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Valley Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. Rev. Damon Fountain and Rev. Keith Alderman will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
A private graveside service will be held at Andersonville National Cemetery.
Dawn was born on November 16, 1952, in Hawkinsville, Georgia to the late Barbara Hudson Martin and Howard Martin, Jr. She graduated from Hawkinsville High School and Georgia Southwestern College. Dawn worked as a medical technologist and then as a social worker. She retired from the Department of Family and Children Services where she devoted her professional career to the betterment of families within the local community.
Rooted in a profound commitment to her faith, Dawn was a dedicated member of Cedar Valley Baptist Church. She truly loved her church family and was a member of the Joy Circle. She found her joy in loving and serving others. She shared this love in many ways, especially with her famous pound cake. Dawn enjoyed reading, spending time fishing with her husband, and being a loving mother and grandmother. She was Dawnde to her granddaughter Ella Kate and her grand dogs. Dawn shared many happy times having dinner with the OWLS, a group of longtime friends.
Dawn is survived by her soulmate and husband William Wayne Peavy of Montezuma, Georgia; two loving daughters, Amber Peavy Moore (Chris) of Macon, Georgia, and Ashley Peavy DaVanzo (Bill) of Leesburg, Georgia, and her granddaughter, Ella Kate Potts; two brothers, Pete Martin (Carol) and Barry Martin (Alice) all of Hawkinsville, Georgia; one sister, Ann Martin Moore (Dan) of Perry, Georgia; and her sister-in-law, Brenda Peavy Chandler (Don) of Montezuma, Georgia, along with many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Dawn’s name to Cedar Valley Baptist Church, P.O. Box 716, Montezuma, Georgia, 31063.
