DAWSON, GA - Dorothy Layfield Stafford, 85, of Dawson, GA passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Lee County Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Dawson, GA. Rev. Currie Spoon will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Dawson, GA.

A native of Macon Co., GA, Mrs. Stafford had lived in Dawson, Ga the past twenty one years. She was retired from Southern Frozen Foods in Montezuma, GA. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawson, GA.

She was the daughter of Edmond M. Layfield and Pearl Felker Layfield of Macon Co., GA and the baby of eleven siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond M. Layfield and Pearl Felker Layfield, seven brothers, Ed Layfield, Johnny Layfield, Wilmon Layfield, Calvin Layfield, Herman Layfield, Carl Layfield, William Layfield and three sisters, Iva Gentry, Coreane Odom and Christine Griffin.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-six years, Ralph Y. Stafford, son, Brad Stafford and wife Lorrie all of Dawson, GA, daughter, Angelia (Angie) Balkcom and her  husband (Chuck), Leesburg, GA, grandchildren, Amber Musgrove (Christian), Eric Balkcom all of Leesburg, GA, Blake Stafford and Matthew Stafford both of Dawson, GA, Brent Balkcom of Houston, TX and Leigha Anthony of Ashville, NC and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Dawson, GA.
