MONTEZUMA, GA - Mrs. Clara Louise Snipes, age 93, of Montezuma, GA. passed away Wednesday evening, May 31, 2017 at her residence.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Mt. Zion - St. Luke Lutheran Church with Pastor Barbara Koch officiating. Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
A visitation will also be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017at Linn- Honeycutt Funeral Home in Landis, NC. Graveside services are scheduled at 11:00 on Monday, June 5, 2017 at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove, NC.
Clara Louise Sloop Snipes, known to her friends and family as Louise, was born March 4th, 1924 in Landis, North Carolina (Rowan County) to the late Edna Ruth Belk Sloop and Arthur Alexander Sloop. She married Waite Hoyt Snipes on January 4, 1946. Her husband passed away in 1996.
She is survived by her son, Waite Hoyt "Buddy" Snipes and his wife Connie, of Atlanta, Georgia,her daughter Julia Snipes and her partner, Jerry Riddle of Montezuma, Georgia; her brother, Kenneth Sloop and his wife, Carolyn of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina; her sister-in-law Betty Plott and her husband, Joe of Concord, North Carolina; her brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas Snipes and his wife Martha of Kannapolis, North Carolina; extended family Lawana Sieckmann and her husband Martin, children Ava and Stephen; Maria Broadhead and her husband Jason, and children Hannah and Jackson all from Texas: numerous nieces and nephews in the North Carolina Area.
Louise graduated from Landis High School in 1941.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Landis, North Carolina for many years, and was most recently a member of Mt. Zion & St. Luke Lutheran Church in Oglethorpe, Georgia, where she created lovely banners which now adorn the church. She also served on the altar committee and was of member of ‘Living Loving Lutherans'.
