Christine Gilbert Cannon

February 27, 1921 — August 28, 2008

Christine Gilbert Cannon, age 87, of Ideal, GA passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 from injuries she received in a automobile accident.

Funeral services were held at 2 PM Saturday, August 30, at the Ideal United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Poole,Rev. Sidney Clay and Rev. Lee Pettis officiating. Burial followed in the Ideal City Cemetery.

Born on February 27, 1921 in Macon County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Otis Gilbert and Lily Dominey Gilbert. She was retired from the Department of Family and Children's Services with 41 years of service. She was a member of the Ideal Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dalton L. Cannon andtwo brothers, Fred and Ralph Gilbert.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Joan Cannon of Montezuma, Larry Cannon of Ideal, Harold and Patsy Cannon of Oglethorpe; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions made to Ideal United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 157, Ideal, GA 31041 or Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Homes, P.O. Box 1000,Stockbridge, GA 30281.

Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma had charge of funeral arrangements.
