LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - Charlie Lewis "Buddy" Barfield, Jr., age 64, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away quietly Sunday, June 19, 2011 in Atlanta, GA after a long illness. He was on medical retirement from Boeing in Macon, GA.

Family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM, Wednesday, June 22 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, June 23 at Oglethorpe United Methodist Church, 402 Randolph Street, Oglethorpe, GA 31068.

Burial will follow in the Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Cheves Barfield of Lawrenceville, GA; stepsons, Dane Kanazawa (Joni) of Virginia and Wes Kanazawa (Christy) of Cumming, GA; three grandchildren, Windsor, Madison and Aidan; mother, Elizabeth Smith of Oglethorpe, GA; sister, Peggy B. Harvey of Montezuma and brother, Randy Smith of Suwanee, GA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie L. Barfield and stepfather, Sanders Smith.

Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.
