OGLETHORPE, GA - Mr. Charles W. Hogg, Sr., age 74, of 1622 Whatley Road, Oglethorpe, GA passed away Sunday morning, September 15, 2013 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday evening, Sept. 16, 2013 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at Pine Level United Methodist Church in Oglethorpe, GA with Rev. Joy Wilson, Rev. Lee Pettis and Rev. Joey Cannon officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hogg was born January 23, 1939 in Macon County, GA, the son of the late James M. Hogg, Sr. and Ruth Medlock Hogg. Before his retirement, he was a foreman mechanic with the Macon County Board of Education at the Bus Shop for 18 years. He was a faithful and longtime member of Pine Level United Methodist Church where he served as trustee and was a member of the Methodist Men's Club. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and being with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Gregory Shannon Hogg and his brother, James M. Hogg, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sylvia Hogg of Oglethorpe, GA; two children, Charles Walter "Walt" Hogg, Jr. and his wife Traci of Huntersville, NC; Beverly Hogg Bergman and her husband James of Perry, GA; five grandchildren, Abby, David, and Jake Hogg and Daniel and Kristy Bergman. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
