MONTGOMERY, AL - Carolyn Dixon Derrick, age 91, of Montgomery, Alabama, formerly of Macon County, GA passed away, Sunday evening, December 28, 2014 at Waterford Place in Montgomery, Alabama. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2015 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, GA. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Derrick was born September 1, 1923 in Richland, Georgia, to the late Harry Marshall Dixon and Sara Robertson Dixon. She graduated from Auburn University in 1945 and married Jesse David Derrick in 1946. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband, Dr. Derrick, in his veterinary practice. Carolyn loved to read and was a supporter of the Montezuma Public Library.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Jesse D. Derrick, and three children: Gloria Derrick Rawlings (Phillip) of Montgomery, Alabama; Dale Derrick Rudolph (William) of Denver, Colorado; Jesse David Derrick, Jr. (Pam) of Hamilton, Georgia, 4 grandchildren: Phillip Rawlings, Jr., David Rudolph (Kristine), Carrye R. Cost (Nick), Jennifer D. Hand (Glenn), and 7 great grandchildren: Derrick Hand, J.P. Hand, William Rudolph, Margaret Rudolph, Avery Rudolph, Charlie Cost, and Paul Cost.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Montezuma Public Library, 506 North Dooly Street, Montezuma, GA 31063 or to a charity of your choice.
