CANTON, GA - Betty Lytle Collier, age 91, of Canton, GA formerly of Montezuma, GA, passed away peacefully, Monday night, May 16, 2011 in Jasper, GA at her sons residence.
Family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM, Wednesday, May 18 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 19 at Montezuma United Methodist Church with Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. Burial will follow in Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery in Montezuma.
Betty was born on September 18, 1919 in Kentucky to the late Frank Lewis and Anna Despain Lewis. She graduated college with a Master's Degree and Specialist in Education. Before her retirement, she taught school for 30 years with the Dooly County School System. She was a faithful member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church and was very involved in the community with civic activities.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Lytle Harrison of San Diego, CA; son, Robert "Bob" S. Lytle, Jr. and his wife, Madonna from Jasper, GA; step-son, Bob Collier and his wife Susan of Montezuma, GA; sister, Virginia White of Kingsport, TN; grandson, Robert Lytle III and his wife Carma of Jacksonville, FL; two step-grandchildren, Brooks Collier of Kennesaw, GA, Emily Collier Driggers of Acworth, GA; two great grandchildren, Cylee and Jeffrey Lytle and astep-great grandchild, Rylan Driggers;several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert S. Lytle and second husband, R.C. "Son" Collier.
