Bernice Felker

Mrs. Bernice Avery Felker, age 90, of Oglethorpe, GA passed away peacefully at her home early Wednesday morning, January 1, 2025. A funeral service will be held at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 12 PM with Rev. Mark Poole and Mr. Sandy Cheves officiating. The family will receive friends during the visitation at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home beginning at 11 AM. Burial will be held at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens following the ceremony.
Mrs. Felker was born in Andersonville, GA to the late Henry Avery and Odessie Avery Collins. She was one of eight children. In 1951, Mrs. Felker married the love of her life and moved to Oglethorpe, GA. She became a beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Felker was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin D. Felker, her sister Annie Ruth Bellew Faulk, her brothers Charles Avery, Leonard Avery, and Billy Avery. She is survived by her daughter, Linda F. Johnson (Richard) of Oglethorpe, GA and son Darrell Felker (Debbie) of Montezuma, GA, five grandchildren Allison M. Hood (Terry) of Hawkinsville, GA, Megan Davis (Brent) of Drayton, GA, Logan D. Felker (Mady) of Oglethorpe, GA, McKay Ansley and Michael Ansley of Athens, GA, and four great-grandchildren Jacob Hood, Matthew Hood, Sara Davis, and Carli Davis. She also leaves behind five siblings, sister Imogene Law of Oglethorpe, GA, brother Eugene “Boss” Avery (Donna) of Leesburg, GA, step-sisters Sandra Rowland of Warner Robins, GA and Linda Clark (George) of Byron, GA, a step brother Wanzie Collins of Macon, GA, and a host of other family members and friends.
