OGLETHORPE, GA - Mr. Bennie Leon Cox, 66, recently of Americus, GA formerly of Oglethorpe, GA passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in the chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma with Rev. Ralph Price and Rev. Curtis Kirksey officiating.
Burial followed in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers were Todd Williams, Ryan Leon, Gerald Dean Felton, Brian Cromer, Lester Cromer and Adam Trammel.
Mr. Cox was born September 9, 1947 in Hillsborough County, Florida to the late Robert A. Cox and Cassie L. Jenkins. He enjoyed attending church with his family. He worked as a refrigeration mechanic for Birds Eye Foods for many years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Cox and his son, Carl Cox; three sisters, Pearline Mills, Janette Mathers, and Bernice Rimes; and three brothers, Ned Cox, Willie Cox, and Robert E. Cox.
Mr. Cox is survived by his daughter, Cassie Sue Bradley and her husband James of Americus, GA; two sisters, Ann Robbins and her husband Roy of Andersonville, GA, and Betty Brandt and her husband Fred of Blakesburg, IA; and two brothers, Paul Cox and his wife Evelyn of Oglethorpe, GA and Harrell Cox and his wife Judy of Brandon, FL.
