OGLETHORPE, GA - Mrs. Barbara Joan Ash, age 71, of Oglethorpe, Georgia passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at Heart of Georgia Hospice in Perry, Georgia.
She was born November 2, 1947 in Crescent, Missouri to the late Glenn Pemberton and Louise Day Pemberton. Mrs. Barbara served her country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam era. She attended University of Missouri where she earned her Master's in Special Education and was employed as Librarian at Montezuma Public Library for many years. She was a member of Oglethorpe Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rostrum at Andersonville National Cemetery.
Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery main entrance (Park Office) at 9:45 a.m.
Celebration of Life Service will follow at Oglethorpe Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M.
Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, Kenneth Warren Ash of Oglethorpe, Georgia; two children: Jo Anna Ash of Waynesville, Missouri and Karl Warren Ash (Sharin Radabaugh) of Valdosta, Georgia; four siblings: Ted Pemberton (Zee) of Divide, Colorado, Brenda Walz (Jim) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lorina Murlock (Larry) of Brush Prairie, Washington and Melody Baker (Chris) of Eureka, Missouri. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Bobby Ray Exendine, Crissy Ashton Exendine, Rebekah Nicole Ash, Katie Lon Ash, Olivia Persell, Audrey Roads and Jacklyn Raum. She is preceded in death by two brothers; Glenn Pemberton, Jr. and Arthur Pemberton.
