A funeral mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Montezuma with Father Isidore Nguyen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church.
Mr. Martinez was born October 27, 1948 in Mexico City, Mexico. He was a 1967 graduate of Macon County High School and received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology from Georgia Southwestern State University. He also attended South Georgia Technical College, was active in scuba diving and karate, and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isidro Garcia and Piedad Quezada Martinez.
Mr. Martinez's survivors include a daughter, Michelle (Grant) Steinburgge of Dayton, OH; one brother, Carlos (Teresa) Martinez of Fayetteville, GA; two sisters, Carmen (Walter) Farr of Americus, GA and Alicia (Sonny) Jenkins of Preston, GA; two granddaughters, Lila & Emma Steinburgge of Dayton, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 685, Montezuma, GA 31063.
Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.
