MONTEZUMA, GA - Alva E. Yoder, age 81, of Montezuma, GA passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 at his residence.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM, Sunday, April 24 at the Montezuma Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Monday, April 25 at the Montezuma Mennonite Church. Ministers Eli Kauffman and Daniel Yoder will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Alva was born on November 6, 1929 in Norfolk, VA to the late Elmer M. Yoder and Malinda Yoder. He was a retired Dairyman, founder of Yoder's Deitch Haus Restaurant in Montezuma, GA and a faithful member of Montezuma Mennonite Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Yoder of Montezuma, GA; 12 children, Laura Whitt and Husband Peter, of Montezuma, GA,Alva Yoder, Jr. and wife Susan of Virginia Beach, VA, Daniel Yoder and wife Rachel of Montezuma, GA, Elmer Yoder and wife Roseanna of Montezuma, GA; Johnny Yoder and wife Linda of Montezuma, GA, Nathan Yoder and wife Marialice of Montezuma, GA, Milton Yoder and wife Barbara Ann of Montezuma, GA, Miriam Whitt and husband Lee of Montezuma, GA, Michael Yoder and wife Kathy of Montezuma, GA, Eva Miller and husband Pete of Delta, CO, Laban Yoder and wife Rose of Montezuma, GA, Benjamin Yoder and wife Mary of Montezuma, GA; 3 siblings, Laura Yoder of Montezuma, GA, S. Melvin Yoder and wife Ruth of Montezuma, GA, Robert Paul Yoder and wife Amanda of Montezuma, GA; 62 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by 1 brother, Henry Yoder, 1 grandson, Jesse Yoder and 2 infant grandchildren.
