Ada Braswell Parsons

Ada Marie Braswell Parsons, age 84, of Montezuma, GA passed away Wednesday December 31, 2008 at her residence.

A private family memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Montezuma on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009.

A service open to the public will be held at 11 AM after the church service at Andersonville National Cemetery where her late husband, Colonel Parsons is interred.

Mrs. Parsons was born in Denison, Texas in 1924. She graduated from Denison High School and graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, GA in 1971. She moved with her family from Macon to Montezuma in 1971, where her husband became mayor in 1978. She was the wife of the late, Colonel Hershell Echoll Parsons who passed away in November of 2002.

Mrs. Parsons taught English at Westfield Academy in Perry, GA and was for many years an English teacher in the Macon County Public School System.

She is survived by her three children, Kenneth Parsons of Dallas, TX, Pamela Parsons Pruitt of Highland, MD and Penelope Parsons Powell of Montezuma, GA; two granddaughters, Meghan Marie Pruitt of Highland, MD and Mallory Kathleen Powell of Montezuma, GA; Her sons-in-law are Shannon Pruitt of Highland, MD, Marcus Powell of Montezuma, GA; her daughter-in-law is Renee Parsons of Dallas, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Crisp Regional Hospice, 910 North 5th Street, Cordele, GA 31015.
